What my character needs

I have got two children's books that I want to send out to agency's, my concern is that young children don't have the patients to plough through a story.  And that my characters desperate need isn't strong enough.  I compare my story to thing like Charlie and the Chocolte Factory, and Charlie's desparate longing for a gold ticket and I find my stories lacking.

Here I Go Again...

Well here I go again.  I say yes and say yes until I’m completely overwhelmed.  So much for the new start with the big 4-0!
I’m treading water in a sea of things to do and expectations.  Which causes the grey clouds of depression and the anger and the resentment.
I had a couple of days, well seven away from the computer and over 1000 emails to sort.
So it’s back to the old Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for me.
Once again I have to repeat to myself – I am not God, or perfect or always right.
1 Prioritize. Once again I have to repeat to myself – I am not God, or perfect or always right. And I have to start with ONE thing and one thing only.
2 Break it down. To ease my anxiety I need to put things into small manageable portions.
3 Commit to completion. Something I’m good at until… I have to stop because I’m are waiting for something or someone.
4 I must not take on any new tasks or projects.
5 Remember I have a choice.  I can say no, I can say no, I can say no…

Flashpoints

Natalie Bowers member of The Writers @ Lovedean as come up with another fun and funky writing project called Flashpoints: http://nffdflashpoints.blogspot.co.uk/

It is definitely worth while checking out the site and having a go.

Flashpoints is the brainchild of flash-fiction writer, Natalie Bowers, who is running another project for National Flash-Fiction Day over at 1000words.org.uk. Why not check it out?  She blogs at http://abutterflymind.tumblr.com/. Details of her latest project can be found at http://1000words.org.uk/.

The girls and I all had a go at Flash Point Fiction yesterday at Gunwharf and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Only my daughter, Jessica's stories were published on the Flashpoint site.  She is so excited about her new hobby, that she as started her own blog called Flashpoint it!  Well done Jessica.

So once again, I haven't done my housework or the garden I have been sitting working on a writing project with my little girl.
